hApPy BiRtHdAy Mark!
Got a cooking lesson from a friend on how to make jiao-zi tonight, yum yum, it was just missing the garlic dipping sauce. Chicken fried rice and sesame chicken were a hit as well, thanks RL!
run, beach, trace
this morning amy graciously got up at the crack of dawn to take mark and I to the start of the Carlsbad ½ marathon. We were not registered, so our plan was to run back to their home (which is off of the PCH). It worked out nicely, beautiful run with a bunch of people over looking the pacific ocean, when the ½ marathoners made ‘the turn’, we kept going straight back to their casa, about 7 miles in one hour and 7 minutes. Yummy, giant blueberry muffins awaited us, thanks Aimes! Then…beach time! South Mission beach, where the lifeguards are so bored they have to come give a semi-citation (warning) to two adorable puppies that were not bothering anyone. Memories flooded back to me from this summer as we got to be with the gang from the summer (Matt, Jess, April, Jordan- missed Angela and Julian). Attempted to surf, made smores by the awesome fire amy made (little chief style). Great church service- and I got to watch this guy play the mess out of the guitar…Trace Bundy:
hit n run, oh fun
Ok, so I get to San Diego safely tonight, enjoyed a great dinner with Mark and Amy and the Turners. Then, I get a call from the guys that live next door to me in Athens. Out of breath, one of them tells me they have been chasing an SUV that hit my parked car. Apparently the hit and run SUV smashed the back of my car/window, axel, etc. My car was pushed into Amanda’s (who lives above us) silver 4 runner -her driver side door is dented in. One of the guys that lives next door called the cops and has a case number for me to give the insurance company.
It just feels weird not being able to see my car and handle it in person. I have an awesome roommate and neighbors!
glorious semi-cold Georgia day!
After class I went downtown to eat with a friend I met last semester. Bundled up in big coats and scarves we found Cookies Café. On the corner, it was a perfect nook to eat sandwiches and talk about life. It is so special to me when people are authentic and transparent with sharing their story. I was graced with this particular friends story and was surprised to find something different from what I expected. It was hard to hear the things she had to go though growing up, but it is amazing to know her now as a woman of God. When I asked her about qualities I admired in her, I was surprised to find that they had come about in an unexpected way. She is an encouragement and pushes me to be a better student and friend. She brightens up your day with a beautiful smile, N, I treasure your friendship.
GG Evans (40 min run/walk)
Mom told me about my Great Grandmother Evans 90th Birthday party: How she wore purple and was propped up on a stool receiving guests/gifts, she lived to 97.
